Dress Code

Dress to impress

What to Wear & Style Guide

Racing is an outing which combines tradition and excitement second to none - the perfect excuse to rise to the occasion, dress up smartly, express your style and feel incredible. We are proud of this history and a dress code does apply to certain areas on-course. Members and guests are kindly reminded of their responsibility to uphold the standards, Wellington Racing Club and their security agents reserve the right of entry.

Members Stand & Hospitality areas inside & out

A high standard of dress is expected in keeping with the dignity of the Members Stand and most people will be in raceday attire – suits and dresses with headwear are the epitome of raceday fashion.

Smart Casual is the minimum standard expected – dress jeans, dress T-Shirts and collared shirts are permitted.

Not permitted: ripped or torn jeans, track pants, shorts, running shoes, jandals, singlets and non-dress T-shirts.

Champagne Lounge

As our elite Gold Members with access to the Birdcage enclosure, a higher standard of dress is expected in this area, particularly on Group 1 racedays and Wellington Cup Day.

Gentlemen

Smart casual with collared shirt as a minimum.

Ladies

Please mark the occasion with racewear attire.

Committee & Presidents Lounge

The exclusivity of these lounges upholds a strong tradition for the sport of kings and dressing smartly and appropriately for the occasion.

Gentlemen

A collared shirt with jacket and/or tie is required with tailored slacks.
Strictly no jeans.

Ladies

Please mark the occasion with racewear attire.

Telford Pub

While we welcome raceday attire the pub on the ground floor is slightly more relaxed.

As Trainers and Strappers frequent this room, you may see the odd pair of work boots, gumboots or more casual styles of clothing.
