The Wellington Racing Club are pleased to advise that preparations are in place for a successful running of the 2022 Wellington Cup on January 29, no matter which COVID-19 protection framework option is in force at the time.
If the region remains in orange, we’re set to welcome thousands of fans for summer’s greatest spectacle on the Champagne Turf of the Trentham Racecourse. With the finest show of thoroughbred racing, fashion, superb hospitality and live entertainment on-course, it’s shaping up as the most sought-after midsummer party in Wellington. Access to the track is easier than ever with the new Trentham Station in use for the first time, and the long-range weather forecasts are looking good for next weekend.
And if we do move into the red traffic light framework the race meeting will proceed as planned on January 29, with all corporate and sponsor functions, pre-booked hospitality, race horse owners and WRC members able to attend the day. In some instances there would be changes to room and amenity location, and all food and drink would be served to your table. Unfortunately we would be unable to accommodate general admission or member for a day ticket holders, and in that instance a full refund would be processed.
We’ll all be keeping close eye on developments in the coming days, but in the meantime you can rest assured that the NZCIS Wellington Cup, Harcourts Thorndon Mile, NZ Bloodstock Desert Gold Stakes and the remainder of the 10-race card will run as scheduled on Saturday 29 January.
