Our Committee

Simon Barber

Simon is President of Wellington Racing Club and has a long-standing involvement with Trentham and the wider racing industry as a passionate thoroughbred owner. A second-generation builder and Managing Director of Jennian Homes Wellington, he brings extensive business, leadership and governance experience to the Club.

Euan Playle

Euan is a long-standing member of Wellington Racing Club’s Committee and currently serves as Vice-President, bringing extensive knowledge of the Club and its operations. A retired BDO partner and Chartered Accountant, he brings significant experience in finance, governance and business advisory to the Committee.

Salve Barnao

Salve has a long and proud association with Wellington Racing Club, having served on the Committee for more than 20 years. A passionate racing enthusiast and thoroughbred owner, he brings extensive knowledge of the Club, its history and the wider racing industry to the Committee.

Mary Burgess

Mary has a lifelong connection to racing and has worked across many areas of the thoroughbred industry, including journalism, bloodstock, public relations, broadcasting and administration. With previous committee experience at Wairarapa, Taupo and Hawke’s Bay racing clubs, she brings extensive industry knowledge and a strong passion for racing at Trentham.

Des Coppins

Des has been a prominent figure in New Zealand racing for more than 50 years, with a career spanning racing journalism, television and radio broadcasting. A long-standing member of the Wellington Racing Club Committee, he has a deep connection to Trentham and brings an exceptional knowledge of the racing industry, its people and its history.

Daniel Gendall

Born and raised in Wellington, Daniel has been involved with racing at Trentham from a young age and has strong family connections to the Club. A qualified pilot with a degree in Aviation Management, Daniel flies for Air New Zealand and is proud to give back to a Club that has played an important part in his life.

Stephanie Murray

Stephanie has a long-standing connection with Trentham through her involvement in racing, fashion and sponsorship, before joining the Wellington Racing Club Committee. Founder and Director of Stephanie Murray Mortgages, she brings extensive experience in finance, business and relationship building, along with a genuine passion for racing and the Club.

David Price

David is a lifelong Wellingtonian with a strong passion for racing as an owner, breeder, racegoer and long-standing Wellington Racing Club member. A Financial Adviser with Forsyth Barr since 2002, he brings extensive financial experience to the Committee along with a genuine commitment to the Club and racing at Trentham.

Marc Schmid

Marc has a longstanding passion for racing and has been a familiar face at Trentham as a raceday steward for the past three seasons. A former New Zealand Army Lieutenant Colonel and now a business leader, he brings strong leadership, governance and commercial experience to the Committee.
